Your calendar is your culture
What is your calendar? A booking system? A data source? Hmmm, yes, sure… but what if I told you your calendar is more than that? That it’s your culture?
Because your calendar is your culture. Or at least, a very clear window into it.
I see this all the time in coaching: leaders who say people development is their top priority but whose diaries are crammed with project updates and external meetings. Leaders who say they value deep thinking but leave no white space for it.
At senior levels, your time is the clearest signal you send. Where you spend it - and who you spend it with - tells your team what you actually value. So many senior leaders feel powerless over their calendar. Well… if you’re not in charge of your time, *who is*?
The strongest leaders treat their calendars like the leadership tool it is, not a booking system. They audit them regularly. They ask:
Does my time match my stated priorities?
Where am I investing in strategy, people and culture?
What do I need to stop doing or delegate?
So here’s a challenge: open your calendar right now. What story does it tell about your leadership?
