What have you done right lately?

I would estimate that, oh, approximately 100% of people I have worked with lately are exhausted (a statistic of correlation, not causation, I trust!).

The pandemic has been… and is… kind of a big deal. I’m tired. You’re tired. We need a break. When you read this, I’ll be having one – though not the sunny tropical poolside holiday we had booked (thanks lockdown).

Fatigue impacts us in all sorts of ways. Our capacity for empathy, ability to focus, capacity for creative insight and our tolerance for frustration all drop. Our tendency to withdraw and to blame increase. It’s important to accept that reality, and be kind to ourselves and others.

One thing that can help is to pause from time to time and reflect on what has gone, and is still going, right in your world.

What are some of the things you have achieved since March 2020? It’s easy to joke (“I finished Netflix”) – but really, you have done many, many things since this all started. It’s easy to gloss over achievements and move on to the next task, so taking some time to note and celebrate your successes is important.

What did you achieve this week?

Who have you loved? Helped? Supported? And who has loved, helped and supported you?

Until next week,

Take care of yourself and others

Madeleine
