The reverse job ad

Over the years I’ve been coaching, many clients have been facing decisions around making a career change. Often, they are struggling with the unknown and finding it difficult to decide what kind of role they are looking for.

They can end up in something of a crisis of confidence, wondering what they are going to be able to do. This is often particularly relevant for lawyers considering a move out of private practice.

In response, I came up with the idea of a “reverse job ad”. Rather than you being the supplicant, hoping for something, anything, to cross your path, this helps you think about what you want. What is mandatory? What is desirable? What is a deal breaker?

Thinking this through methodically helps you to clarify what you want, so you don’t waste time chasing after things that aren’t quite right.

If you’d like a copy of my reverse job ad template, I’ve made it available for you here.

Until next week, take care of yourself and others
