Lowering the bar

This week I had the pleasure of visiting beautiful Christchurch to deliver a session on wellbeing at the In-House Lawyers' Association of NZ conference.

It was a fantastic event with a real buzz about it - so great to be gathering in-person once again. Even the "polar blast" of literally freezing weather, for which I did not pack appropriately, was fun. Well, mostly.

As part of my session, I spoke about the idea of "lowering the bar" when it comes to your wellbeing goals. When you are in the unhappy place of being so overloaded and overwhelmed with work that adding in all the "shoulds" around healthy sleeping, eating and moving just seems impossible, it can feel very dispiriting and actually make you even less motivated to make any change at all.

Yet, we know that even tiny positive shifts work like compound interest, building as your capacity, and energy, improve.

So this week, I'm sharing a post on the topic from the before-times, February 2020. You can find it here.

Until next week,

Take care of yourself and others

Madeleine
