Use your mind’s eye to get unstuck

When you envision the road ahead, what do you see?

In working with people approaching any major change (such as retirement, career change, redundancy), the answer I hear in response to this question is often “nothing”.

Our mind’s eye can offer valuable clues to what’s going on for us. The metaphors it offers up aren’t usually too mysterious.

When I ask that question of someone stuck on a decision or struggling to decide/foresee what shape their next phase of life will take, they will often report an impassable road, one clouded in dark fog, or obscured by debris.

When people are clear and excited about what’s next, their mind’s eye is much more likely to serve up something like an open highway, brightly lit and appealing to travel along.

When I ask people what they need in order to clear a blocked road, they will often find themselves tapping into wisdom that they hadn’t previously accessed and giving answers that are useful in their real life. Usually, a combination of enlisting support from someone/something, taking a different perspective in some way, or allowing the passage of time to make the way more clear. They can then take these insights and apply them in reality.

My role as coach is not to tell you what to do, but to help you tap into wisdom and resources you already have within you. It’s incredibly rewarding.

I’d love to hear your stories of accessing deeper or intuitive insights to get unstuck. Send me a message and let me know!

Take care of yourself and others,

Madeleine
